How to play
Click Generate
One click picks a fully random color from among the 16 million available hex combinations across the RGB spectrum.
Note the hex code
The #RRGGBB hex code is displayed under the color swatch. Copy it in one click to paste directly into your design software or CSS editor.
Regenerate freely
Every click is independent. Tap as many times as you like until you find a shade that resonates or fits your project.
Explore variations
If you like the hue but it's too dark or too saturated, use the hex code as a starting point in a color editor to fine-tune the shade.
When and why
Design or decor inspiration
Stuck choosing a color for a graphic project or a wall paint? A random draw breaks the decision paralysis and can surface an unexpected combination you'd never have chosen.
Imposed creative challenge
The drawn color becomes the constraint for your next illustration, outfit or layout. Constraints spark creativity where a blank canvas blocks it.
Group drawing icebreaker
Each participant draws a color and must sketch something that evokes it in 60 seconds. Fast, fun, and there are no wrong answers.
UI mockup test palette
Need a quick accent color for a wireframe? A random hex prevents spending twenty minutes deliberating over something you'll replace anyway.
Tips, variants & rules
Weekly color challenge
Pick a color every Monday and incorporate it into all your creations that week: posts, visuals, sketches. The constraint frees the imagination.
Pair with the letter picker
Draw a letter AND a color: sketch something starting with that letter in that color. A perfect mini-challenge for kids or illustrators.
Use the hex directly in CSS
Paste the #RRGGBB code straight into your CSS file or Tailwind config. No conversion needed: the hexadecimal format is universal across all modern tools.
Two colors for a duo
Click twice and use both colors as foreground and background, or as the primary and complementary colors for a quick visual identity.
Frequently asked questions
How many different hex colors are there?
Exactly 16,777,216 (256³). Each draw independently samples from these 16 million combinations, each with equal probability.
How do I use the hex code in software?
Copy the #RRGGBB code and paste it into the color picker of Figma, Illustrator, Canva, Photoshop or your favorite CSS editor. All modern tools accept it directly.
Can I get a color within a specific range?
Not directly in this tool: the draw covers the full spectrum. For a targeted range (pastels, vivid hues), use a palette generator with saturation and brightness constraints.
Is the generated color printable without shifting?
Hex codes are RGB (screen mode). Some highly saturated hues may shift when printed because the CMYK gamut is narrower. Convert via an RGB-to-CMYK tool before sending to print.
